Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our HR licence training

Do I need to book a separate DoT assessment?

▼

No! This is what makes us different. All our assessments are conducted ON-SITE with Department of Transport approved assessors. You train and test in the same location - no separate appointments, no waiting weeks for DOT availability. This is our biggest advantage over traditional training providers.

What are the pre-requisites for HR Licence training?

▼

You must hold a Car (C class) licence for at least 2 years, OR a Light rigid (LR) vehicle licence for at least 1 year, OR a Medium Rigid (MR) vehicle licence for at least 1 year. These are the DOT requirements before you can enrol in HR training.

What's the difference between HR-A, HR-B and HR-open?

▼

HR-A (Automatic) allows you to drive HR Automatic Vehicles only - easiest to learn. HR-B (Manual/Synchromesh) allows you to drive vehicles with synchromesh gearboxes (single clutch) OR automatic gearboxes - most versatile and popular choice. HR-Open (Road Ranger) allows you to drive vehicles with Road Ranger gearbox (double clutch) using double-clutching technique - you can drive ANY gearbox type with this licence.
